Take the LeapFrog LeapPad Explorer Tablet out of the box and you'll be immediately impressed. It has a beautiful 5-inch touch screen and unlike other fragile tablets, this one feels and looks sturdy -- rugged enough to take whatever it is your preschooler decides to dish out.
Usage wise, the tablet offers a lot. While there are games and apps available for purchase (there is no wireless on the unit, you need to tether it to a PC or a Mac), the LeapPad comes with plenty built-in, including an art studio, the Disney Animation Studio and an app where kids can create their own stories and personalize them with photos. Also, if you've already purchased a LeapFrog product like the handheld Leapster Explorer (compare prices), you'll be happy to know that those cartridges are compatible. There are no third-party apps (sorry, no Angry Birds!).
The tablet is easy to operate. Kids can use their fingers on the touch screen or the included stylist. Pages on a book can be turned and shaking the unit also elicits a response. Games automatically respond to the child's age and skill level.
What's Great
There is so much that I liked about the LeapFrog LeapPad Explorer Tablet -- the idea of itself as well as how nicely it is executed. It offers kids a chance to use the technology that is out there -- digital cameras, readers, access to apps and more -- but on their own, appropriate level. Smart and thoughtful, the educational games will keep them entertained and learning while giving them the opportunity to explore in a safe and controlled environment.
The durability of the unit is a big plus. Obviously you don't want to throw it into water, but it can definitely withstand a drop. Also great? Two styluses are included -- I automatically put one in a "safe spot" so we can access it quickly if we need to.
The overall intuitiveness of the unit is really impressive. This is an important when you are dealing with youngsters and both end of the technology spectrum -- kids that are used to playing with their parent's smart phones and tablets and those who aren't familiar with these types of devices. The games follow suit, they automatically increase in difficulty as your child masters a level. You can follow along with your child's progress thanks to the LeapFrog Learning Path, a system that keeps you updated on what your child's scores are on the different games they play.
The learning is all-encompassing too. If your child wants to know what a word is, they can touch it. A picture will appear as well as the entry from the visual dictionary.
What's Not-So-Great
Honestly? Not much. No Wi-Fi which means you have to connect the unit to your home computer. Buying apps can get expensive, but if you already have a LeapFrog Explorer, you'll have plenty to choose from, not to mention that there is a lot already built in. If your child is used to using a "grown-up" tablet, they may feel like the LeapFrog is slow in comparison (and it is) but it's quick enough. Be sure to have plenty of batteries on hand. The tablet uses 4 AA batteries and if they play with it often enough, they will go through them quickly. The upside is that rechargeable batteries can be used.

Iron Man 2 Movie Review
Iron Man 2, the most anticipated movie of the 2010 summer blockbuster season, has finally arrived. And it is so much more than anyone could have hoped for.
As the movie starts we see Tony Stark, aka Iron man, flying around the world in his suit just enjoying the hell out of himself. It’s been six months since the end of the first film, and he is basking in his celebrity and the general love shown to him by just about everybody.
The actors that are in Iron Man 2 are just great. Don Cheadle plays Lt. Col. James 'Rhodey' Rhodes, Stark’s good friend. Gwyneth Paltrow plays Stark’s assistant Pepper Potts, Sam Rockwell plays Tony’s arch enemy Justin Hammer (he is gives some of the movie’s best lines). Dependable Samuel L. Jackson plays Nick Fury, Comedian Garry Shandling plays Senator Stern, Mickey Rourke continues his astonishing comeback by playing the wildly entertaining villain Ivan Vanko, a Russian with a score to settle with Stark. And voluptuous Scarlett Johansson plays Natalie Rushman / Natasha Romanoff. That form-fitting suit that she wears in this movie will make all the men just die.
But as in Iron Man 1, it is the gifted Robert Downey Jr that drives the movie. Downey is generally considered to be one of the best actors of his generation. With jaw-dropping performances in movies like Chaplain and Natural Born Killers, he has established himself as an actor’s actor. These Iron Man movies are so superior to most other “comic book hero” movies because finally the studio put a great actor in the lead role.
The core plot of this movie is the desire of the Russian Ivan Vanko, a disfigured, tattooed giant, to exact revenge on Tony Stark for the sins of their fathers. Ivan is played perfectly by Mickey Rourke. After at least one botched facelift, Rourke probably didn’t need a lot of makeup to play this role. Ivan’s father was a brilliant Russian scientist who defected to the United States years ago. He was subsequently accused of espionage by Tony Stark’s father (unjustly it turned out) and was deported back to Russia. Once there he was thrown into one of the gulags and later died a broken, disgraced alcoholic. Ivan wants his pound of flesh, and as a brilliant scientist himself he is able to build himself a suit to challenge Tony. It is this revenge that makes up much of the movie.
The action sequences in this movie are even better than in the first. The scene everybody is talking about is the first seismic battle between Stark and Ivan at the Grand Prix in Monaco. It is here that Stark encounters Ivan and his intimidating electric whips and suit for the first time. Their fight among the speeding cars on the track is epic.

Film Final Destination
Sebuah kabar baik buat penggemar perfilman Hollywood di Indonesia. Situs IMDB melansir bahwa Indonesia akan menjadi salah satu negara tercepat yang bakal merilis film horor-thriller Final Destination 5.
Film arahan sutradara Steven Quale itu dikatakan akan rilis di Indonesia pada 19 Agustus 2011. Film yang punya beberapa tagline utama seperti 'kematian tak dapat dicurangi' ini resmi dirilis pertama kali di seluruh dunia pada ajang Fantasia Film Festival, Canada, 4 Agustus 2011 lalu.
AS sendiri menayangkan serentak film tersebut semenjak 12 Agustus 2011, kemudian Hong Kong pada 18 Agustus 2011 dan dilanjutkan dengan Indonesia. Keterangan sama juga diamini oleh Djonny Syafruddin, Ketua GPBSI (Gabungan Pengusaha Bioskop Seluruh Indonesia), ketika dihubungi Kompas.com, kemarin.
"Final Destination 5 sudah masuk. Tapi, belum diatur main di bioskop," terang Djonny.
Sayang, dirinya masih enggan memberikan kepastian mengenai tanggal rilis ataupun proses mendetail penayangan film tersebut di bioskop. Menikmati trailer dari film ini, tampaknya film distribusi Warner Bros. Ini lebih mendetail dalam menggambarkan perjalanan kematian yang tertunda.
Terlebih, detail-detail itu akan semakin tergambarkan manakala efek 3D (tiga dimensi) juga disiapkan seperti pada The Final Destination terbitan tahun 2009 lalu. Film diproduksi dengan biaya sekitar 47 juta dollar AS. Tiga hari penjualan di minggu pertama rilis di AS, film berdurasi 1 jam 35 menit ini memiliki pendapatan kotor sekitar 18,4 juta dollar AS. Meski lebih rendah daripada penjualan seri sebelumnya, peminat 3D film ini cukup besar, menguasai sekitar 75 persen dari pendapatan kotor.(kompas.com)
